Welcome to the NUI Generation!
The Natural User Interface (NUI) is a new way to think about how we interact with
computers. NUI is about more than just multi-touch, voice, motion tracking, or other
exotic inputs. It is about using those technologies and getting out of the way to
let the user interact directly with content using intuitive skills and behaviors
that the user already knows.
What is HandsOnNUI.com?
The purpose of HandsOnNUI.com is to spread practical and easy-to-understand information
about designing and developing Natural User Interfaces.
Who are you?
My name is Joshua Blake, and I consider myself an integrator (designer-developer
hybrid) with some interesting ideas about NUI. I have been creating Natural User
Interfaces on Microsoft Surface since it was released as well as on Windows 7 since
it was in beta. I'm writing a Manning book called Multitouch on Windows about Natural User Interface
development with WPF and Silverlight.
Why is this site so Web 1.0?
The site is really just a placeholder. I am
working on a multi-touch Silverlight experience for HandsOnNUI.com that will
help illustrate what I believe is the future of interfaces, but I had to put
something in place in the meantime.
